COME OUT FOR FOLEY ON April 20, 2010

In 1934 more than 100 WPA workers built Foley Field's soaring concrete bleachers as part of the federal government's all-out effort to put America back to work during the Great Depression. Seventy-six years later time is up for the decaying bleachers and hard-packed field that has come to be called "The Rock." Over the next several weeks, this blog will feature historic and current photos as well as video interviews with Bloomfielders who share their thoughts and dreams about Foley. If you'd like to share your stories about Foley, contact Mary Shaughnessy at ellanora@comcast.net. This blog is not a product of the Board of Education but a personal homage to Bloomfield's storied stadium. 1. I think this whole thing is ridiculous. Why doesn't the community fight to ensure the staffing ratio at the school remains the same? Instead they seem more concerned about extra-curricular activities than the quality of education in the classroom. Additionally, after two bond votes of 'no', it is a travesty that the Board of Education put it back on the ballot. Does that mean if it passes this time, I can go appeal to them to put in on the ballot again because it didn't go my way?
